In the early fall of 2000, Southern California Greyhound Adoption League was formed with the primary purpose of assisting in the placement of ex-racing greyhounds by fostering Hemopet long-term kennel residents and owner returned greyhound companions. When a foster home is open and no appropriate Hemopet greyhound is available, one is transferred from another greyhound rescue group.

Our available greyhounds are housed in volunteer foster homes with other greyhounds. While in foster care, the ex-racing greyhounds learn how to live in a home. Foster homes provide valuable information about personality traits, including how a foster greyhound reacts with children, small dogs, and cats. An important aspect of our foster program is socialization. Read the Local News page for events where you can visit with our available greyhounds.
