Southern California Greyhound Adoption Legion was established for the primary purpose of assisting in the placement of ex-racing greyhounds by fostering Hemopet kennel residents and owner-returned greyhound companions. When a foster home is open and no appropriate Hemopet greyhound is available, a greyhound may be transferred from another greyhound rescue group.
Featured Greyhound Greece, born in July 2011, is a calm and handsome boy who is a joy to walk on leash. In his new foster home, he caught on quickly to the joys of living in a house. Greece will need to live in a home which has another large dog (for confidence reasons), but he can also live with smaller dogs as well-- there just needs to be 1 large dog in his new home, too. He loves walking right beside the other greyhound in his foster home. We are in the process of evaluating him for living with cats. Greece needs daily eyedrops once a day, and he stands in front of you while waiting for them!
Miss Behavin is available for adoption through Hemopet or fostering through SoCalGAL. A SPECIAL PLEA FOR MISS BEHAVIN'. All Hemopet dogs deserve to find their homes, both forever and foster. We're making a special plea here for Miss Behavin'. She is an incredibly sweet, calm and quiet 4 year old girl. Her back end is weak from a neurological issue. (Please talk to Raymond at Hemopet.) The vet said she really needs to leave the kennel and get into a home, so that she can become stronger. She is a total lovebug, gentle, and easy-peasy on leash. Miss Behavin' was born in January 2014. Can anyone reading this find it in their hearts and homes to bring Miss Behavin' out of the kennel and into their home, either as a foster or forever dog, so that she can get stronger? Miss Behavin' is able to live with cats, small dogs, plus she can be the only dog in a home, too.
Foster Greyhounds FOSTER HOMES ARE THE LIFEBLOOD OF OUR GROUP. This is not an exaggeration. All of our available greyhounds are kept in foster homes, and we can always use new foster homes. Many more Greyhounds are waiting in kennels and on farms, and we would like to have as many foster dogs as possible. If you have room in your home and your heart for an ex-racing Greyhound, on a temporary basis, and would like to experience the joys of being a foster parent, please contact us! All food and any medication is provided. It costs nothing, but gives the world, if you are able to foster one of the Hemopet dogs!Read more >>
Adopt A Greyhound If you are considering adoption, please complete the Application on the Adoption Application page. One of our volunteers will contact you to discuss available foster greyhounds and the adoption process. Our adoption fee is $275.00
